I just found out today that Holly, the cat I praised in my article on NYC bookstore cats, has gotten sicker. Though she’s been receiving home treatment, she desperately needs “kitty dialysis” (proper name: diuresis), and if she doesn’t receive it, will have to be euthanized.
Given that independent bookstores don’t have many funds in the first place, the owner (who is lovely, and so genuine) can’t raise the money on her own.
Besides fantasizing about donating money I don’t have to save this cat, I gave $70 to their ChipIn page.
Holly isn’t eating AT ALL, even after a visit to the vet on Saturday. Because she’s effectively starving herself to death, she needs emergency treatment immediately.
Apparently the good news is that Holly is young and “very feisty” (acc. to the vet), and this could help keep her healthy for years to come.
I’m really concerned, and know that many of my Tumblr followers love cats as much as I do, so I thought I’d post this here. Please help, guys!! (And/or reblog so others can, too).
